Plan International is a child-focused development organization with no religious, political or government affiliations.
For the past 20 years, AkzoNobel – through its Education Fund – has been a partner of Plan Nederland, which is a member of the Plan International network. The company receives help from the Plan organization when making decisions about which projects to support through the fund.
AkzoNobel established the Education Fund to offer aid to children in developing countries, mainly by providing financial assistance for educational projects and programs. The money comes from corporate funds, as well as employee donations and special fund-raising events. Until now, more than 50 projects in 15 countries in South America, Africa and South East Asia have been supported.
In 2013 and 2014, AkzoNobel’s Education Fund will assist Plan's projects in Brazil (the Natal region in particular), where Plan, Amsterdam ArenA Advisory and various other partners are joining forces to contribute to the cultural and social legacy of the Arena das Dunas stadium during and beyond the FIFA World Cup in 2014. The Education Fund will focus on vocational training programs for deprived youngsters.
